A number of Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to laud Ainsley Maitland-Niles’s performance during the Gunners’ 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Mikel Arteta’s men had to settle for a point at Selhurst Park. They did initially take the lead through Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. But a challenge from the same player during the second-half saw Arsenal play out the game with only 10 men on the pitch.

Palace fans would have been forgiven for thinking ahead of the game that the crucial battle would be between Wilfried Zaha and Maitland-Niles.
The Arsenal man has grown into the right-back role, particularly under Arteta. But Zaha has the potential to be one of the most dangerous players in the Premier League. And Maitland-Niles is, of course, naturally a midfielder.

However, plenty of Arsenal fans now feel that that defensive role is the 22-year-old’s best position. A number of supporters suggested that Maitland-Niles kept Zaha in his pocket throughout the game.
Some have insisted that the youngster has been one of the most impressive performers since Arteta’s appointment.
And it has been suggested that Hector Bellerin may struggle to get back in ahead of his teammate.
