Arsenal fans react on Twitter to William Saliba's display
A number of Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to comment on William Saliba as the youngster made yet another start out on loan on Wednesday.
The 19-year-old started alongside Jean-Clair Todibo for the first time as Nice faced Monaco in Ligue 1.
It unfortunately proved to be a disappointing night for the visitors. They were beaten 2-1 in the Principality. However, that did not prevent Saliba from impressing plenty of Arsenal fans on social media.
As shown by Whoscored.com, Saliba came away from the game with a couple of remarkable statistics. For starters, he completed 80 successful passes.
In comparison, the player with the second highest number of successful passes – Todibo – was 15 adrift of the teenager.
Meanwhile, he also made eight clearances during the contest. No other player on the pitch managed more than three.
And that prompted plenty of Arsenal fans to laud the youngster. It was perhaps a controversial decision to let him leave in January.
In fairness to Mikel Arteta, the Gunners have kept six clean sheets in their last nine. And if Saliba was not going to make his debut anytime soon, a loan makes a lot of sense.
But there is no question that Saliba seems to be applying the pressure on Arsenal’s other defenders from across the Channel – even in defeat.
With that in mind, here is how some of the Arsenal fans have reacted to his latest display…
Watched saliba today he is so confident on the ball moves so easily from defence to midfield next season he should be starting games for us

Matt, I’d go as far to say Saliba is looking better & better with every game in nearly all aspects of his game (nd thank goodness they’ve given him Todibo)
I’ve one major concern and it’s vital for PL centrebacks; he doesn’t impose himself defending corners.
He is quite meek.
