Arsenal fans react on Twitter to William Saliba’s debut

A number of Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to comment on William Saliba’s debut following the defender’s loan move to Nice this month.

Saliba only completed his switch this week. But he was thrown straight into the starting lineup as Nice travelled to Brest.

It proved to be a disappointing night for the visitors. They were 2-0 down inside half an hour. And they were unable to get back into the contest.

Despite the scoreline, it does appear that Saliba did manage to impress the Arsenal fans who were watching the game.

The 19-year-old certainly enjoyed a prominent role in the fixture. As shown by Whoscored.com, he completed more passes than any other player on the pitch.

He also made two successful tackles and two clearances for Nice. And that prompted plenty of fans to suggest that they saw plenty of positives from Saliba’s debut performance.

Admittedly, there were some who felt that his display vindicated Mikel Arteta’s decision to not use him in the first-half of the season. But others claimed that some of the problems with his contribution could be put down to his lack of game-time.

And several suggested that they expect Saliba to really kick on from here. There are concerns about Nice. But some sense that the centre-back is going to get a good chance to get his confidence back.
