Arsenal fans react on Twitter to Nuno Tavares display

A number of Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Nuno Tavares after the left-back produced another superb display in their Premier League win over Watford on Sunday.

Arsenal sit fifth in the table and go into the international break having won their last three.

Emile Smith Rowe scored the only goal of the game as they beat the Hornets at the Emirates. The youngster found the back of the net from the edge of the box during the second-half.

The game also saw Tavares make only his third league start for Arsenal. It was all the more significant with Kieran Tierney back available. Mikel Arteta decided to leave the Scot on the bench.

Tavares however, went on to vindicate Arteta’s decision with a superb display. His energy threatened to cause problems throughout. Ismaila Sarr meanwhile, hardly managed to make any sort of impact for the visitors in North London.

It was also a run from Tavares – who earns £27,000-a-week – that culminated in Juraj Kucka getting a second yellow card and being sent off late on.

Arteta insisted after the contest that the 21-year-old had been exceptional since coming into the side.

And it appears that plenty of Arsenal fans were left just impressed with his display at the Emirates.

In fact, many lauded the club for uncovering a gem in Tavares. He had hardly been a regular for Benfica before his switch. So the deal has to be considered even more inspired than many are suggesting.
