A number of Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to react to reports from the Daily Mail this week suggesting that Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Nuno Espirito Santo is a top target should Unai Emery leave the Gunners.
From the outside, it appears that Emery’s days at the Emirates could be numbered. Arsenal have gone some time without a win, and plenty of supporters already appear to be writing off their chances of finishing in the top four this season.
The Daily Mail reports that a question mark hangs over Emery’s future. And Nuno is one of the top names on their wishlist as Wolves continue to impress.
Like Arsenal, they look set to reach the knockout stages of the Europa League. And they have surprised many by sitting fifth in the Premier League when some expected the side to struggle while battling on both domestic and European fronts.
Nevertheless, interest in Nuno appears to have divided the supporters on social media. It appears that some doubt whether he would be enough of an upgrade on Emery.
In fact, some have insisted that they have no interest in seeing the Portuguese arrive at the Emirates. He has done an outstanding job at Molineux. But plenty have suggested that he is not ready to make the step up. His style of play has also been criticised.
There are a number of fans who have backed Nuno to be an inspired appointment if he came in. But it appears that the majority are not happy about the reports.
Here is what some of the fans make of the rumours…
I don’t see what the problem is being linked with Nuno Espírito Santo , done brilliant at wolves he’s premier league proven and I think he would be a good appointment #AFC

Totally the wrong choice. Is the whole board blind?

I’ll rather have Pochettino than Nuno.

Terrible.. won’t suit the players we’ve got. Very very good manager, but suits an underdog taking on the big boys and counter attacking. Players won’t suit counter attacking at the Emirates

Big mistake, we need a top manager. He’s good but not good enough for the Arsenal.

I don’t care what anyone thinks, Nuno is a good coach and has done a great job at Wolves. Fans would be all over him if he was coaching in any other European league. I wouldn’t mind havin him at all!

Sounds like a great idea to employ another guy the fans don’t want and haven’t mentioned because this one went really well ?
