A number of Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to comment on reports from Goal from over the weekend suggesting that Niko Kovac is interested in succeeding Unai Emery at the Emirates.

The Gunners are continuing to search for their next permanent manager. Freddie Ljungberg secured his first win since being named as interim boss on Monday.

It was arguably not a performance that did Ljungberg’s chances of getting the role permanently many favours. But perhaps, the club’s next manager may have been inside the London Stadium.

Goal reports that Kovac was planning to attend the game – along with several other Premier League fixtures over the weekend – and had made it known to the Arsenal hierarchy that he is interested in taking the job.

Goal noted that Kovac is not thought to be a leading candidate for the post. But he is currently out of work after leaving Bayern Munich last month.

Arsenal fans concerned

Unfortunately for Kovac, it appears that many Arsenal supporters are not overly keen to see him appointed. There has been some support for the 48-year-old, but most are not convinced.

Kovac did win the Bundesliga title last season. But Bayern are struggling this term. And not many supporters are giving the former Croatia international much credit for a title win given the Bavarian side’s dominance.

One fan even suggested that Arsenal would slide further down the table with him in charge. It is clear that most would deem Kovac arriving to be a disappointing appointment.
