A number of Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to laud Nicolas Pepe’s performance – despite the Gunners losing 2-1 away at Wolves on Tuesday.
It proved to be a hugely frustrating night for Mikel Arteta’s side. They had an early goal disallowed due to Alexandre Lacazette finding Bukayo Saka while the Frenchman was in an offside position.

And after the visitors had gone in front at Molineux thanks to Pepe, Arsenal conceded twice just either side of the break.
David Luiz was sent off – their first red card of the evening – after clipping Willian Jose inside the box. Ruben Neves converted the subsequent penalty. And Joao Moutinho scored a screamer to put Nuno’s side in front shortly after the interval.

Arsenal were starting to improve as the hour mark approached. However, Arteta decided to take Pepe off for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
While introducing Aubameyang made perfect sense, many Arsenal fans simply could not understand why Pepe – who earns £100,000-a-week, according to Spotrac – was the man to come off.
Of course, it would not have been easy to take any player off with the Gunners down to 10. But plenty of supporters felt that Pepe was one of Arsenal’s best performers.
He did outrageously well to put the Gunners in front. It was an outstanding run into the box that culminated with the winger curling the ball into the far corner with his right foot.
That goal came after he also scored in the win against Southampton last month. And it really feels as if the 25-year-old may have turned a corner.
Here is how some of the Arsenal fans reacted to Pepe’s display as well as Arteta’s decision to take him off…
