A number of Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to react after seeing Mohamed Elneny score a stunning goal on international duty on Monday.

With two goals in March for club and country, Elneny has been somewhat prolific by his usual standards.

But the two finishes he has produced this month would suggest that the 28-year-old has the potential to contribute a lot more often.

Of course, he scored a brilliant long-range effort against Olympiakos in the Europa League. And he has now produced an even more delicious strike for Egypt.

The midfielder opened the scoring against Comoros after receiving the ball on the edge of the box from a corner.

With little backlift, Elneny sent an effort in at the far post, with the attempt dipping under the crossbar once the goalkeeper was already beaten.

It was a sublime strike. And, unsurprisingly, a clip of the goal prompted a strong reaction amongst Arsenal fans on social media.

There was little surprise to see Elneny – who earns £50,000-a-week, according to Spotrac – produce such a finish. For some reason, the goals he does score tend to be special.

There is a hope that he is gearing up to score plenty more for Mikel Arteta’s side upon his return from international duty. And for some, that would perhaps open the door to a conversation about extending his stay at the Emirates.
