Arsenal fans react on Twitter to Mohamed Elneny’s display at Fulham

Arsenal’s emphatic opening day victory saw a number of players within Mikel Arteta’s squad make a big statement – and Mohamed Elneny was definitely one of those to make a major impression.

The Gunners beat Fulham 3-0 at Craven Cottage. It was another superb performance from the visitors who have picked up where they left off last season in the early stages of the new campaign.

Elneny was not involved last term after being loaned out. But he has certainly staked a claim for a prominent role this season with another impressive display.

The Egyptian – who was excellent in the Community Shield win over Liverpool – was tidy in possession and brought plenty of energy in the middle of the park.

Whoscored.com shows that he completed 60 successful passes during the win. Meanwhile, he managed five interceptions – more than any other player on the pitch.

There do appear to be some question marks hanging over Elneny’s future. The Telegraph recently reported that he is one of the players available for sale during this window.

But, as things stand, it is becoming increasingly difficult to see the midfielder leaving the Emirates this summer. He has stepped up since his return from his loan spell.

‘Arteta is something else’

And plenty of fans have suggested that Elneny’s performance deserved enormous praise. Some believe that he has made enormous improvements since he was loaned out a year ago.

And with Arteta seemingly transforming a number of his teammates since his appointment, many are clearly excited to see the level Elneny can perhaps get to during the coming months.
