A number of Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to react to comments made by Mikel Arteta – reported by Football London – concerning Dani Ceballos’s future.

Football London notes that Arsenal did not agree an option to make the 23-year-old’s move from Real Madrid permanent, so there looks to be a question mark hanging over his future as the end of the season looms.

But Arteta appears to have dropped a clear hint regarding where he hopes Ceballos will be next season.

“I am really happy with him, I think he’s evolving the right way and is becoming a really important player for us,” he said, as reported by Football London.

“We are talking to the club. Obviously, we don’t own the player, it’s not in our hands so the clubs will need to have communication and see what we can do.”

Had Ceballos’s loan expired in January, it seems difficult to imagine that Arsenal would have looked to extend his deal.

He seemed to struggle to make much of an impact, and spent almost three months on the sidelines around the turn of the year.

However, he has arguably looked much better in recent months. So perhaps it is not particularly surprising that there are plenty of Arsenal fans keen to see Ceballos stay following Arteta’s comments.

Admittedly, there are some who are adamant that it would not be worthwhile keeping him. And there are some who believe that Arsenal should only be willing to commit to another loan move rather than attempt to sign him permanently.

But there are plenty who hope that an agreement can be reached with Los Blancos. He looks to have improved under Arteta, and some are optimistic that there could be a lot more to come.
