Arsenal fans react on Twitter to Marcelo Flores announcement

A number of Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to react to the news that Marcelo Flores has received his first call-up to the Mexico senior squad.

Flores is yet to make his first-team debut for the Gunners. However, he is a player that fans of the club will be more than aware of.

The 18-year-old has scored six goals in nine games in the under-18 Premier League this term. He can play on either wing. However, he has been superb in the attacking midfield role this season.

His international future did appear to be somewhat up in the air. He was eligible for Mexico, Canada and England. In fact, he had received call-ups from both of the latter two countries before representing Mexico at youth level.

And it appears that he is about to take the next step up in his career. As confirmed by the Arsenal academy, Flores has been included in the Mexico senior squad ahead of their clash with Chile next month.

The news, unsurprisingly, has attracted a lot of attention amongst Arsenal fans on social media.

For many, it is further proof that the Gunners have yet another special talent in their ranks in Flores.

In fact, some have expressed their bemusement that he has barely featured for the under-23s and yet, could be about to play for the full Mexican national team.
