Arsenal fans react on Twitter to Jules Kounde interest reports

A number of Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to react to reports from Spanish outlet El Gol Digital earlier this week claiming that the Gunners are one of the teams interested in signing Jules Kounde from Sevilla.

On paper, it does appear that Mikel Arteta does not need to sign anymore centre-backs. The likes of David Luiz, Pablo Mari, Gabriel Magalhaes and Rob Holding have all shone at various stages this term.

Meanwhile, they also have Calum Chambers. And William Saliba and Konstantinos Mavropanos are set to return from their respective loan spells in the summer.

However, it appears that they are not shutting the door on strengthening their ranks further. And according to El Gol Digital, the Gunners are keen on Kounde.

The report noted that the 22-year-old’s asking price has dropped from £77 million to around £51 million. And it is suggested that his most likely destination is the Premier League, with Manchester United also keen.

Unsurprisingly, the report has gone down incredibly well amongst a number of Arsenal fans. Kounde looks to be one of the brightest defensive prospects playing anywhere in Europe.

And while Arsenal have plenty of options, some clearly think that he would be an outstanding signing. They have expressed their excitement at the idea of Kounde, Gabriel and Saliba establishing themselves as their three first-choice centre-backs.

There are doubts about the chances of a move. It is still a huge outlay, even with the reduction in his asking price. And Arteta’s priorities may lie elsewhere. But there are clearly some who desperately want Kounde in at the Emirates.
