Arsenal fans react on Twitter to Granit Xhaka’s display

A number of Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Granit Xhaka’s performance as the Gunners got some revenge on Southampton on Tuesday.

Mikel Arteta made a raft of changes from the side that was beaten on the same ground at the weekend. And the changes paid off for Arsenal at St Mary’s.

Xhaka was one of those to keep his place in the team. And he managed to produce an outstanding display in the middle of the park as the Gunners secured the three points.

Arsenal’s second and third goals came from Bukayo Saka and Alexandre Lacazette respectively. But it was Nicolas Pepe who bagged the equaliser after Stuart Armstrong had given the Saints the lead.

Pepe’s finish came after a delicious pass from Xhaka. It was weighted perfectly and allowed the winger to calmly find the bottom corner.

Plenty of fans suggested that it was one of Xhaka’s best performances for Arsenal. The midfielder – who earns £100,000-a-week, according to Spotrac – has, of course, endured a turbulent time in North London.

But he was most definitely a class act on the south coast. He seemed to be pulling all of the strings. And many felt that he was a standout performer on another good day for Arteta’s men.
