A number of Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to plead with Unai Emery to drop Granit Xhaka after his performance against Aston Villa on Sunday.

The Gunners needed a late comeback to secure the three points against the newly-promoted side at the Emirates. Nicolas Pepe had initially cancelled out Villa’s opener, but Wesley put the visitors back in front moments later.

Thankfully for Arsenal, Calum Chambers bagged an equaliser before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang put the home side in front late on with a brilliant finish.

And some Arsenal fans have suggested that it is no coincidence that Emery’s men were able to get back into the game after Xhaka had been replaced.

The supporters cheered as he was substituted after another poor performance. He did little with possession and picked up another yellow card during the early stages of the game.

And following the game, plenty of Arsenal fans have implored Emery to drop the 26-year-old – who cost £30 million, according to Sky Sports – for this coming weekend’s trip to Manchester United. The supporters are now desperate to see Lucas Torreira play alongside Matteo Guendouzi in the middle of the park at Old Trafford.
