A number of Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Gabriel Magalhaes’s display in the North London derby – with many insisting that the defender was one of the only players to emerge with any credit.
It proved to be another disappointing afternoon for Mikel Arteta’s men. Two goals in the first-half saw them lose 2-0 against Tottenham.

Despite dominating possession, Arsenal rarely looked like getting back into the game. And understandably, there has been a lot of anger directed at a number of their players.
However, Gabriel has been praised by many. It has been suggested by several that he was one of their best performers.

As shown by Whoscored.com, he completed 80 successful passes. Meanwhile, he also managed two successful challenges and won two aerial duels.
Remarkably, no Arsenal player managed more dribbles than the Brazilian. It did appear that he tried to show a lot more intent than several of his teammates.
The 22-year-old – who earns £50,000-a-week, according to Spotrac – has been a standout performer since arriving at the Emirates in the summer. And a number of fans have suggested that he can be content with his derby display.
Unfortunately, just as they sign a defender who looks to have an incredibly bright future ahead, Arteta seems to find that he has several other issues to address.
