A number of Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to react to the news that Eddie Nketiah will captain England’s under-21 side in the group-stages of the European Championships.
It has not been an easy time for Nketiah in recent months. The 21-year-old seemed to start the campaign right in the mix amongst Mikel Arteta’s plans.

Unfortunately, he has fallen off the radar somewhat with the Gunners. He has only made two substitute appearances in the Premier League since the turn of the year.
In fact, he has not been named in the Arsenal match day squad for any of their last eight top flight games. However, he has been able to put that to one side for the time-being.

It was no surprise to see Nketiah included in Aidy Boothroyd’s squad for the upcoming group-stages. The striker is the team’s all-time leading goalscorer with 16 goals in 14 caps.
However, what may have taken some by a little surprise is the news that Nketiah will captain the team at this stage (via Sky Sports).
Given what he has achieved, it does appear to make a lot of sense. And the news has attracted plenty of reaction amongst Arsenal fans.
Some have lauded Nketiah and feel that he deserves the chance. And it is hoped that it could be the springboard to better things upon his return to North London.
Others however, have taken a considerably different stance. They have suggested that it is a plus as it will boost the £45,000-a-week striker’s value ahead of the summer.
With that in mind, here is how some of the Arsenal fans have reacted to the announcement…
