Arsenal fans react on Twitter to Daniel Ballard contract reports

A number of Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to comment on reports that the Gunners are set to trigger the option in the contract of Daniel Ballard.

Ballard is one of several players currently impressing out on loan. He has been a stalwart for a Millwall side who are only outside the Championship play-off places on goal difference.

Of course, Ballard had previously helped Blackpool to promotion out of League One. And he is becoming a more prominent fixture within the Northern Ireland senior squad.

Arsenal fans are yet to see the 22-year-old make his debut for the Gunners. Certainly, a loan move looked to be the right decision with Benjamin White coming in over the summer and pushing the rest of the options further down the pecking order.

Nevertheless, the Gunners look set to ensure that Ballard could be sticking around for some time to come yet.

Football London reports that Arsenal have decided to trigger the option in his contract. The decision is set to tie the youngster down until 2024.

It is noted that Arsenal are yet to decide whether Ballard is in their plans. But the move will ensure that they can command a fee should the Gunners choose to let him go.

Many clearly think Ballard has a lot of potential. In fact, some do not think that he is too far away from being able to provide cover for the first-choice options at the Emirates.

They certainly hope that he will get an opportunity at some stage in the future…
