Arsenal fans react on Twitter to Alexandre Lacazette’s display

A number of Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Alexandre Lacazette’s display in the Gunners’ Carabao Cup tie with Manchester City on Tuesday.

It proved to be another disappointing evening for Mikel Arteta’s men. Arsenal ultimately suffered a 4-1 defeat. And it was a game that certainly further highlighted some of the problems within Arteta’s squad.

There were some positives. Gabriel Martinelli was very impressive on his return to the starting lineup. And the youngsters brought on during the second-half looked extremely bright.

But it appears that plenty of Arsenal supporters also felt that Lacazette’s display was worthy of some praise.

The Frenchman has come in for plenty of criticism this season. And it has been difficult for Arteta to find a place in the team that brings the best out of the 29-year-old.

He went into this week’s tie having scored once in his previous 12 games in all competitions. But he was able to get onto the scoresheet against the Cityzens.

He produced a very good header from Martinelli’s cross to initially equalise. And it is clear that plenty of fans felt that he deserved that goal.

Several have lauded the effort that Lacazette – who earns £182,000-a-week, according to Spotrac – put in during the game. They feel that he is one of the senior players whose effort simply cannot be questioned at a time when many are playing extremely poorly.
