Arsenal fans react on Twitter as Patson Daka scores four for Leicester

A number of Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Patson Daka after the striker scored four times for Leicester City in their Europa League win on Wednesday.

The Gunners were one of a raft of Premier League sides linked with a move for Daka over the summer.

The 23-year-old had enjoyed two stunning campaigns with Red Bull Salzburg. He scored 51 league goals in 59 games in the top flight before his move to England.

As noted by the Daily Express, Arsenal wanted the Zambia international. And they were not alone.

Ultimately, it was Leicester who won the race to secure his signature. The Foxes paid £22 million to sign the forward, according to BBC Sport.

You could understand why Arsenal fans would have been disappointed to miss out. Daka boasted an outrageous record during his time in Austria.

Did Arsenal make a huge error not signing Patson Daka?

The Gunners meanwhile, will need to bolster their striker ranks at some stage in the near future. Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are both out of contract at the Emirates in the summer.

Daka seemed an ideal option for many. And those frustrations over not signing him have only been compounded by his latest display for Brendan Rodgers’s side this week.

He had actually endured a slow start to life at the King Power Stadium. He was an unused substitute in six of their opening seven games in the Premier League.

However, he opened his account for Leicester at the weekend. Daka scored in the 4-2 win over Manchester United.

And he has now followed that up with an incredible display as Leicester secured their first win in the Europa League this term.

The Foxes beat Spartak Moscow 4-3 in a stunning game in Russia. They had gone 2-0 down during the first-half.

But Daka inspired the visitors to then go 4-2 ahead. He got one back before half-time, before equalising from close range when played in by Kelechi Iheanacho.

And he scored twice more, with two clever finishes, sliding the ball past the goalkeeper on both occasions.

Daka now has five goals in two games for Leicester. And his performance did not escape the attention of a host of Arsenal fans on social media.

Of course, few have any hope of a future move. It does appear that the Gunners have probably missed their chance to sign him.

Certainly, many are anticipating that his value will rise rapidly.

And it has disappointed many that Arsenal did not do more to bring him in when they had a potential opportunity.

‘Quality, quality player’

Daka had been firing the goals in for some time before he got his move to the Premier League. So the chance to strike a deal was there.

And it does appear that Leicester may have produced a masterstroke paying £22 million. Thus, Gunners supporters are somewhat baffled that they did not make their move.

With that in mind, here is how some of the Arsenal fans have reacted after watching their former target Daka tear things up for Leicester in the Europa League on Wednesday…
