Arsenal’s under-21 outfit took on League One side Ipswich Town in the Football League Trophy this evening, winning 2-1 thanks to goals from George Lewis and Folarin Balogun.

Jon Nolan had fired the Tractor Boys into a first-half lead but a debut goal by Lewis ensured parity at the interval.

The Gunners added Lewis to their youth ranks during the summer having been released by Norwegian outfit Fram Larvik.

A highly-rated forward option, the 20-year-old will look to make his mark on the development squad with the hope of stepping up to the first-team at some point.

Lewis certainly showed his class against Ipswich scoring his first goal for his new club and supporters were delighted with his contribution.

Arsenal also have to play Crawley and Gillingham in their Football League Trophy group and that should give Lewis a platform for more game time.

Following his goalscoring contribution against Ipswich, supporters were quick to react on Twitter.

It would seem most are extremely excited at what the forward might bring to the club in the future and are keen to see more of him.

Here is a selection of Tweets from the Arsenal faithful as the Gunners get off to a winning start in the Football League Trophy.
