Arsenal wonderkid Gabriel Martinelli has been spotted training with the first-team as he nears a return to action following a lengthy injury layoff.

The 19-year-old enjoyed a decent start to life in English football, checking in from Ituano for £3.5 million in the summer of 2019.

He bagged 10 goals and claimed four assists last season before a knee injury struck in June.

Martinelli hasn’t featured for the Gunners since a 0-0 draw against Burnley in February and he’ll be desperate to get back.

The 19-year-old will bring some versatility to Mikel Arteta’s ranks. He has shown previously that he can play on either flank or through the middle.

Arsenal have won four and lost four of their opening eight fixtures and already face a fight for a top-four finish.

The Gunners have had a mixed bag of results so far. Arteta oversaw a stunning win at Manchester United but suffered a 3-0 thrashing to Aston Villa just a week later.

The challenge for Arsenal is consistency and having Martinelli back in the ranks will certainly be a boost.

Following news of his return to training, supporters have been reacting on Twitter.

Here is what they are saying about Martinelli’s return.
