Arsenal fans react as Willian discusses time at Emirates Stadium
Willian isn’t showing many signs of ending his public spat with Arsenal any time soon and he’s been running his mouth once again during an interview with Arena SBT.
He simply can’t let go of the fact that he endured a torrid time in North London.
The Brazilian spent one season at Arsenal. He was really poor and managed just one goal during 37 appearances. Willian did claim seven assists, although three of those came in one game.
An ex-Chelsea player, he seemed like a decent free transfer when he checked in from Stamford Bridge. The 33-year-old managed just one year of a three-year arrangement and has now joined Corinthians.
Arsenal will be glad when Corinthians begin playing meaningful matches. At the moment, Willian has lots of his time to stick the boot in on his time at Arsenal.
Now, he’s claimed that it was he that wanted out of the North London-based outfit and not vice versa.
He told Arena BST: “My year at Arsenal was a bit complicated. I really couldn’t adapt to the club. I wasn’t happy there.
“To make it very clear too, it wasn’t the club that wanted me to leave. I wanted to leave the club. I expressed my feeling, and I wasn’t happy. For me, I wanted to leave and find another place to play.”
What have Arsenal fans said about Willian?
It’s fair to say that plenty of supporters have been quick to quip back at Willian over his comments.
Very few will have been hoping to see him still an Arsenal player when the transfer window slammed shut and it’s a case of good riddance.
He was pretty dreadful throughout his time as a Gunners player and supporters can’t really believe the audacity.
Here is what the fan base had to say on Twitter regarding Willian’s latest comments.
