Arsenal talent William Saliba has enjoyed a solid first month on loan at Nice, winning the club’s Player of the Month award.
During the month of January, he played five times for the Ligue 1 outfit and made an instant impact on the pitch.
Saliba arrived at the Gunners from Saint-Etienne for £27 million but is yet to make his debut.
Despite signing for the club in the summer of 2019, he was immediately loaned straight back to continue his development.
When he arrived back at Arsenal in the summer he was included in Mikel Arteta’s pre-season plans.
That led to excitement among the fan base, with many believing he’d play a part during 2020/21.
Arteta simply hasn’t fancied him yet though and allowed him to join Nice on loan.
He is behind Rob Holding, Gabriel, David Luiz and Pablo Mari in the pecking order and a loan move was deemed best for his development.
Saliba earns £40,000-a-week at the Emirates Stadium and does look like having a bright future.
After his accolade at his temporary club, some supporters have been quick to congratulate him on Twitter.
Here is what the Arsenal fan base have been saying regarding the 19-year-old’s latest honour.
While y’all still see Rob Holding as Rio Ferdinand. Nonsense decision makers https://t.co/SyKGImuCfD
