Arsenal fans react as Unai Emery plots move for Hector Bellerin
According to Di Marzio, Villarreal are preparing to make a formal bid to sign Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin.
The Gunners player will be allowed to leave for £20 million this summer and Unai Emery wants a reunion.
The Europa League winners are in direct competition with Sevilla, although Emery looks set to make the first official move.
This summer looks the right time to shift on Bellerin. Mikel Arteta will want to reshape his squad and will need to balance the books first.
As a result, several of his trusted lieutenants could be under threat during the window.
David Luiz has already departed, whilst Granit Xhaka looks set to sign for Jose Mourinho at Roma.
If Bellerin were to leave as well it would represent a clear changing of the guard at the Emirates Stadium.
The man with four Spain caps has struggled in recent seasons.
Bellerin missed almost a year of action after picking up a knee injury during 2018/19.
Although he managed 35 appearances last season, he has struggled to replicate his early promise.
Bellerin exit: Arsenal fans keen to see him leave
The Gunners faithful are desperate to see their team’s fortunes change in the coming seasons.
It has been a pretty drab time of things in recent times and improvements are required.
Having a good shuffle among the playing staff makes perfect sense.
It will allow Arsenal to clear the decks and more crucially bring in funds for their own recruitment drive.
Bellerin hasn’t been a bad servant to the football club but the time is right for him to leave.
Arsenal fans certainly agree and they are delighted at Emery for making the first move.
Here is what the Gunners fan base are saying as the £110,000-a-week Arsenal player edges closer to an exit.
