Arsenal fans react as Shkodran Mustafi sends positive tweet

The World Cup winner was stretchered off in last night’s game against Bournemouth.

Arsenal secured their place in the fifth round of the FA Cup last night with a 2-1 win over struggling Bournemouth.

Bukayo Saka and Eddie Nketiah came up trumps to fire the Gunners into a last 16 showdown against Portsmouth.

There was one sour note for Arsenal to contend with as Shkodran Mustafi was stretchered off.

It is uncertain at this stage what the problem is exactly but he looked in lots of pain as he was taken from the field.

According to BBC Sport, the £90,000-a-week (Spotrac) defender will be sent for a scan on his ankle.

Mustafi has been restored to the first-team picture in recent weeks.

He dropped a clanger against Chelsea last week but did recover to set up one of Arsenal’s two goals.

The 27-year-old looked solid at the Vitality Stadium until injury struck and Arteta has suggested that he is happy to keep the German at the club (Football London).

Following his injury last night, Mustafi has taken to Twitter to thank the fans for their support.

His suggestion that he will be back soon might offer Arsenal fans some hope that he won’t be out of action for too long.

They say a week can be a long time in football and for Mustafi that might be true.

The responses to his Tweet were pretty positive and maybe he is winning some supporters over.

Mustafi will only get himself back in favour with the club’s fanbase with strong performances and as a result, he will hope he isn’t out for long.

Here is a selection of tweets from Arsenal supporters in response to Mustafi:
