Arsenal fans react as Santi Cazorla suggest he’d return to the club

The Spaniard has been speaking to the press this week about his time at the club.

Former Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla has told Goal that he would love to play for the Gunners again.

The 35-year-old departed the Emirates Stadium in 2018 ending a six-year association with the club.

Cazorla suffered a serious Achilles injury that threatened to curtail his career but ultimately he fought back at Villarreal.

In six years at Arsenal, he scored 29 goals and registered 45 assists in 180 appearances.

A successful career has seen him win the FA Cup twice and also lift the European Championships with Spain on two occasions.

Cazorla is enjoying a solid season at Villarreal. He has netted nine goals and registered five assists, wearing the captain’s armband on occasions.

There seems little doubt that he would jump at a chance of an Arsenal return, however.

He told Goal: “I don’t know if it’s possible or not, but I want to play one more game for Arsenal before I retire. It was a deep regret that I could never have a proper goodbye.

“Arsenal was the biggest club I ever played for. I’m proud that I was an Arsenal player. I’m especially grateful for the Arsenal fans who supported me even after I left the club.”

Following these comments from Cazorla, Arsenal fans have been reacting on Twitter.
