League seasons across Europe are wrapping up all over the continent, with Ligue 1 coming to an end last night as Lille pipped PSG to the title on the final day of the league campaign.
And for Arsenal defender William Saliba, it was a night to remember as the on-loan centre-back. The 20-year-old scored his first senior goal in his career, with the centre-back netting the winner for OGC Nice against Lyon, denying the French giants UEFA Champions League qualification.
Saliba has flourished with Nice since joining the club in January on a short-term loan deal. The French youth international started all but two games for the Ligue 1 side, with the defender keeping three clean sheets and guiding Adrian Ursea’s side to ninth in the standings.
And Arsenal supporters were proud to see Saliba score his first-ever professional goal in football. The former Saint Etienne defender is due to return to north London this summer, with Gunners fans keen to see the youngster be part of the first team for next season.
