After a long wait, Rob Holding is finally back in contention for a first-team spot. Arsenal’s official website has confirmed that Holding is back in full training and he could make his return this weekend.
Holding has been out with an ACL injury that needed surgery since the 2-2 draw with Manchester United back in December 2018. His recovery has been slow but he has finally come through the rehabilitation and is now back.

The 23-year-old has stepped up his progress over the summer, featuring in pre-season and playing a few U23 games since the 2019/20 season started. He has been participating in full training and is now in contention to make the squad for Sunday’s trip to Watford.
This boosts Unai Emery’s defensive options after the international break. Sokratis Papastathopoulos and David Luiz currently occupy the two centre-back spots while Calum Chambers and Shkodran Mustafi provide cover.
Holding’s return allows Emery to rotate his options at the back and experiment with different formations. Here are some Arsenal fans reacting to the news that Holding is back from injury.
