Arsenal fans react as report links Maxi Gomez with Emirates move

Arsenal fans have been reacting to a report that has claimed the Gunners are monitoring Valencia striker Maxi Gomez.

The Daily Mail reported yesterday that the north Londoners are monitoring the situation of the Uruguay star, with his club in need of cash.

It is thought they see Gomez as a means of raising funds, but they know they won’t get anywhere near his £125 million release clause.

Gomez has impressed during his time over in La Liga, where he’s been since 2017 after joining Celta Vigo from Defensor Sporting.

Although not prolific, he has a decent record of 43 goals in 113 games to date in the competition for Celta and Valencia.

Gomez is appreciated for his ability to bring other players into play and using his physicality, something that could stand him in good stead if he moved to the Premier League.

Previously, Gomez reportedly almost moved to West Ham United in the summer of 2019, before the Irons landed Sebastien Haller from Eintracht Frankfurt.

Arsenal’s goalscoring issues have been well documented this term, and Gomez may just be the man to come in and shake things up.

Although some won’t like to admit it, the club have missed Olivier Giroud and Gomez does share qualities with the Frenchman.

Some Arsenal fans gave a potential move for Gomez their backing on social media:
