Arsenal fans react as Norwich City reportedly eye William Saliba loan, want swap deal

Norwich City are reportedly considering a loan move to sign Arsenal defender William Saliba this summer after the teenage ace remained at the Emirates beyond Monday’s deadline – and Gunners fans have responded, discussing a swap deal.

Saliba, 19, returned to St. Etienne on loan last season after completing a permanent £27million move to the Gunners in 2019. But he endured a difficult season in which he was in and out of the side. Now, he looks unlikely to break into Arsenal’s side.

Indeed, the Gunners signed Gabriel and still have David Luiz, Rob Holding, Calum Chambers, Shkodran Mustafi and Sokratis as options at centre-back. It leaves Saliba with next-to-no chance of getting game time, or even making his debut.

According to a report from the London Evening Standard, Norwich are considering a move to lure the France Under-20 international to east Anglia on loan for the 2020-21 campaign. The Canaries have just let Timm Klose go on loan to Basel.

But Arsenal fans are still wanting additions. Yes, they signed Thomas Partey, but Houssem Aouar – a more attacking midfielder – remained at Lyon. Emi Buendia is Norwich’s best playmaker – laying on 25 assists in 81 Norwich outings.

Arsenal supporters have reacted on Twitter to the reported news that the Canaries want to sign Saliba on loan, and many Arsenal fans think it would be wise to consider a player-plus-Saliba-loan deal for 23-year-old Argentine Buendia.
