Arsenal fans react as Newcastle set to propose swap deal for Joe Willock

Arsenal could be offered the chance to sign Newcastle talent Freddie Woodman as part of a deal that takes Joe Willock to St James’ Park.

The Chronicle claims that the Magpies are desperate to land the attacking midfielder this summer.

Now, Newcastle are considering a swap deal involving Woodman to land the Arsenal talent.

Willock scored in the final seven games he played of 2020/21 and Steve Bruce wants to build his team around him next season.

Woodman spent the last two seasons on loan at Swansea. He helped the Swans to the play-offs both times, with the club narrowly missing out on the Premier League.

Arsenal have been long-term admirers of Woodman. The 24-year-old is at the point where he needs to play regularly.

The Gunners could be looking to bolster their goalkeeping ranks this summer. Bernd Leno has been linked with a move away, whilst Ajax stopper Andre Onana has been linked too.

If Newcastle are serious about landing Willock they’ll have to part with some cash too.

The attacking midfielder is valued at £30 million and a straight swap for Woodman won’t be on the table.

Arsenal fans seem to like swap idea involving Willock and Woodman

Following this news emerging yesterday, Arsenal supporters have taken to Twitter to discuss the idea.

Willock scored eight times for Newcastle last season and proved his worth considerably.

It’s little surprise that they are keen to sign him and his chances of an Arsenal chance look slim.

Woodman would strengthen the Arsenal squad considerably and he looks like a future England player.

The goalkeeper has excelled at Swansea and the Premier League awaits for him.

Arsenal fans would perhaps like to see Willock handed a chance, although signing Woodman would soften the blow.

Here is what supporters had to say on Twitter regarding the latest reports.
