Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi has made the final cut for the Golden Boy shortlist.
Guendouzi is named as one of the 20 contenders to win the prestigious Golden Boy award. This is an award for the top European talent under the age of 21 and Guendouzi is in with a shout.
The France U21 starlet could be the first Arsenal player to receive this award since Cesc Fabregas back in 2006. Last year, Matthijs de Ligt claimed the top prize with Kylian Mbappe winning the year before.
Battle on for Guendouzi
Guendouzi has some serious competition on his hands, though. Reigning champions de Ligt will be aiming to win back-to-back awards. But there are a number of England-based players competing for this award.

Everton’s Moise Kean, who joined from Juventus in the summer, will push Guendouzi and de Ligt for the Golden Boy trophy. Chelsea’s Mason Mount and Manchester City’s Phil Foden are also on the list. Jadon Sancho – who is at Borrusia Dortmund – is another candidate, alongside former Arsenal winger Donyell Malen.
Arsenal fans took to Twitter to congratulate Guendouzi on making the final 20. Here are some tweets about this.
