Arsenal fans react as Matteo Guendouzi is linked with Marseille move

Marseille are readying an approach to sign Matteo Guendouzi from Arsenal during the summer. According to L’Equipe, the Ligue 1 outfit have placed the Gunners midfielder high on their wishlist.

The 22-year-old has spent the 2020/21 campaign on loan in the Bundesliga with Hertha Berlin. He has made 24 appearances for his temporary club, scoring twice and claiming three assists.

Towards the back end of last season, Guendouzi was left out of Mikel Arteta’s team. Following the re-signing of Dani Ceballos and the addition of Thomas Partey, he was subsequently loaned out.

It would seem as though some Arsenal fans would welcome a reprieve for Guendouzi. Given his age, there is plenty of unearthed potential and some feel he can still do a job.

Celtic strike Premier Sports deal - is this the "additional value" we've been waiting for?

Ceballos is unlikely to be at the club next season, whilst Mohamed Elneny, Granit Xhaka and Partey all offer similar attributes.

That could open a door for the £40,000-a-week Guendouzi to earn another chance, although Arteta might have other ideas.

Following the news that the midfielder is a target for Marseille, supporters have been reacting on Twitter – and here is what they have been saying.
