Arsenal fans react as Manchester United star Paul Pogba admits he was a Gunners fan

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has claimed he was an Arsenal fan during his childhood as he idolised French sensation Thierry Henry – and Gunners supporters have reacted on Twitter.

Pogba, 27, has endured a difficult season at Manchester United this season. The Frenchman as come under increasing criticism despite being sidelined with a long-standing ankle problem – limiting the World Cup winner to just eight outings this term.

The Frenchman has been linked with moves to clubs such as Real Madrid under Zinedine Zidane, while a return to Juventus is also an option – especially with Manchester United supposedly one of the clubs interested in signing Aaron Ramsey.

Speaking to Manchester United’s official podcast, Pogba admitted honestly that he was an Arsenal fan as a youngster as he grew up watching the likes of Thierry Henry, Robert Pires, Patrick Vieira and Sylvain Wiltord.

“I will be honest. So, at the start, I was an Arsenal fan – obviously because of all the French players, you know,” Pogba told United’s official podcast. “Me and my brother were but my other brother was a Manchester United fan.

“I couldn’t say anything so I used to love Henry and, because of him, I was an Arsenal fan. Then I changed and went on to choose with my other brother. No Arsenal, I went with the other one, the United fan.”

Even when Pogba returns to full fitness, he will have a job to work his way back into the side – with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seemingly becoming frustrated by the United academy product. The likes of Scott McTominay and Fred have started.

Arsenal supporters reacted to the news that Pogba admitted he was an Arsenal fan as a youngster, and many joked that the £150million-rated (ESPN) ace could be on his way “to the carpet”.
