Arsenal fans react as Manchester City could make surprise transfer swoop
Manchester City could make a shock late swoop to sign Arsenal attacker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – and Arsenal fans have reacted on Twitter.
Aubameyang, 32, has been criticised in the last few months, struggling to rediscover his best form. Since signing a new deal, he has been below par.
The Gabon captain made his first appearance during the defeat to Chelsea, missing the loss to Brentford. He could face West Brom on Wednesday.
ESPN claim Manchester City are looking to end his Arsenal spell entirely. Pep Guardiola wants a striker, but Harry Kane is proving expensive.
The report says that Manchester City need a goalscorer and Arsenal could cash in, if an offer of £25million is tabled for the ex-Dortmund striker.
What are Arsenal fans saying as Manchester City eye Aubameyang?
Arsenal have been busy, but criticism has been laid at the door of sporting director Edu. Many question if his signings have improved Arsenal.
Selling Aubameyang would bring in some cash for new additions – but letting the Gunners skipper go would certainly anger the Arsenal fanbase.
That is, even if it meant getting his enormous pay cheque off the wage bill. He has two years left on his Emirates contract, until June 2023.
Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to discuss reports that Manchester City are keen on Aubameyang. Many want him to stay in North London.
One fan, meanwhile, says he would accept the loss of Aubameyang if a fee of £50million was on the table.
