Just nine games have been afforded to Lucas Torreira since the South American midfielder left Arsenal to join Atletico Madrid on a season-long loan, and he could be back in north London sooner than expected – prompting reaction on Twitter.
Torreira, 24, temporarily halted a two-year spell at Arsenal when he moved on loan to Atletico Madrid – hours before Thomas Partey went the other way to north London from Diego Simeone’s side. The Gunners chose to get rid of the Uruguayan.
However, things have not gone to plan for the ex-Sampdoria man. He has managed just nine appearances for Atletico this season, missing three of the eight La Liga games he could have played since joining Atletico.

On the weekend, he remained an unused substitute during a 2-0 defeat to Real Madrid. Now, TuttoMercatoWeb claim that he could have his loan spell cut short given his lack of form – despite Atletico fighting so hard to beat Torino for Torreira.
The Gunners meanwhile could do with a midfielder in January. Granit Xhaka’s time at Arsenal is in doubt after a sending off on Sunday, while Dani Ceballos is struggling for form. Partey has struggled with injury, while Mo Elneny has been inconsistent.
Arsenal supporters reacted to the reports that Torreira could return to The Emirates in the summer and some supporters are hopeful that he could return to Mikel Arteta’s side and help improve the Spaniard’s team.
