Arsenal fans react as Liverpool reportedly eye Houssem Aouar

Houssem Aouar has been reportedly added to a three-man shortlist as Liverpool look to replace Gini Wijnaldum in the summer, with the Dutchman expected to leave on a free transfer – and Arsenal fans have reacted to the reports on Twitter.

Aouar, 22, was regularly linked with Arsenal last summer – having starred for Lyon since breaking from the academy side into the first team. In his 161 Lyon games, the impressive Aouar has scored 30 goals and laid on the same amount in terms of assists.

Even this season, the one-time France international has eight goal involvements in 23 league games – netting five and creating three more. Goal claim Liverpool have added Aouar to their shortlist of midfielders to replace Wijnaldum this summer.

That list also includes Brighton’s Yves Bissouma, and Gladbach’s Florian Neuhaus. Last summer, Arsenal were hell-bent on trying to get Aouar – with ESPN claiming they made an offer of £30million, but failed to reach Lyon’s asking price.

Arsenal fans have reacted on Twitter to the reports that Aouar has emerged as a target for Liverpool and many are now doubting their chances of being able to sign the playmaker from Lyon. One fan suggested they would have to win the Europa League.
