Pictures of Jose Mourinho have emerged on Twitter in attendance at Arsenal’s 3-2 Europa League win over Vitoria on Thursday night – and many Arsenal fans are hopeful that the Portuguese boss could be in line to replace Unai Emery.

Emery has guided his side to just eight wins in 13 league and cup fixtures this season, losing to Liverpool at Anfield before suffering defeat in the last Premier League outing against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.

It has been a worrying week for Emery, who watched his side go behind twice to Portuguese minnows Vitoria before his blushes were saved by £72million summer signing Nicolas Pepe – as the Ivorian scored two sumptuous free-kicks.

Various Arsenal-supporting accounts on Twitter posted images of former Real Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester United and Inter Milan manager Mourinho, who watched on as Arsenal secured a win to make it nine points from three Europa League games.

Mourinho is currently out of work and has been since being sacked by Manchester United in December 2018, and replaced by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Emery has a contract until the summer of 2021 after agreeing a move to Arsenal in 2018.

Arsenal fans reacted to Mourinho, 56, being spotted at The Emirates on Thursday night as Emery recorded his eighth win of the season, and many are desperate to see the Portuguese boss replace former Paris Saint-Germain boss Emery.
