Henrikh Mkhitaryan scored a sensational hat-trick for AS Roma on Sunday afternoon during a 3-1 win over Genoa away from home as Arsenal were battered 3-0 by Aston Villa – and Gunners fans have responded on Twitter.
Mkhitaryan, 31, joined Roma on a permanent deal in the summer after the Gunners agreed to terminate his Arsenal contract – after initially impressing on loan with Roma during the 2019-20 campaign.
Roma came back in for the ex-Manchester United star after having a hand in 14 goals during his 27 appearances for the Serie A club last term – scoring nine goals and creating five more. This season, his form has improved further.
Following his hat-trick against Genoa on Sunday, Mkhitaryan has now scored four goals and laid on five assists during his 10 Roma appearances this season. His first came from a corner, heading home after losing his marker from six yards out.
A lovely move from Genoa got them back on level terms, with Juventus loanee Marko Pjaca finishing well. But Mkhitaryan won the match, as the Armenian tapped home a cross from Bruno Peres. But his third was the highlight of the match.
A delightful cross from ex-Chelsea man Pedro found Mkhitaryan alone in the box, and his volley flew into the bottom corner. Arsenal supporters caught wind of his hat-trick, and reacted on Twitter.
