Arsenal fans react as Hector Bellerin receives Spain call-up

Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin is back in the Spain squad after years out of the picture.

The full-back has been called up to the squad for upcoming games against the Netherlands, Switzerland and Germany to replace Jesus Navas, who has had to drop out due to injury.

It means Bellerin will have the chance to add to his three senior caps, the last of which came back in 2016 in a friendly against Georgia.

It is a big moment for Bellerin, who has started off the 2020/21 season in really good form for the Gunners.

The 25-year-old has knuckled down and really improved his game, and appears to have come through the tricky period following his serious knee injury.

Bellerin sustained a ruptured ACL against Chelsea in January 2019, which required surgery.

The former Barcelona youngster struggled upon his return and appeared to lack confidence.

Under Mikel Arteta though, £110,000-a-week star Bellerin (Spotrac) appears to be on a path back to his best, and that appears to have been validated by Luis Enrique’s decision to call him back into the national side.

He may be replacing an injured player, but the player is definitely deserving of an international chance.
