Hector Bellerin has been quoted by The Guardian as saying that he “hates” Tottenham Hotspur because of his “love” for Arsenal – and Gunners fans have reacted on Twitter by speaking of their admiration for the Spanish right-back.
Bellerin, 24, finally returned to first-team action last week as the Gunners beat Nottingham Forest 5-0 in the Carabao Cup. He replaced Kieran Tierney in the 77th minute, and could now make his second appearance against Man United on Monday.
The Spain international has clocked up a huge 182 appearances for the Gunners, after first joining the club from Barcelona as a teenager. He is one of the longest-serving players in the current Arsenal squad.
The rivalry between Tottenham and Arsenal remains in north London – especially given the close proximity between the two sides in the Premier League. Asked about his hatred for Tottenham, Bellerin responded in a way Arsenal fans will love.

“I don’t hate Tottenham because they told me to hate them. I hate them because I love Arsenal,” Bellerin said.
Arsenal can go above Tottenham and indeed West Ham United with a win over Manchester United, with Spurs currently sitting on 11 points in fifth place. The Hammers are on 12th in fourth.
Arsenal fans reacted to Bellerin’s comments about their north London rivals on Twitter, and many suggested he should have been made the new captain instead of Granit Chaka – who was voted as the new skipper by the players.
