Arsenal and Liverpool are two of five clubs reportedly keeping tabs on Real Madrid star Marco Asensio – and Gunners fans have reacted on Twitter.

Asensio, 25, has started just three of his nine league appearances for Real Madrid this season. Carlo Ancelotti preferring other attacking options.

That is, despite the Spain international scoring a hat-trick for Real Madrid in a 6-1 La Liga victory over his boyhood club RCD Mallorca this term.

But Madrid are keen to get rid of some of their fringe players in the January window. Asensio is one of those, and five clubs are said to be interested.

El Nacional say Arsenal and Liverpool are monitoring developments regarding Asensio. However, so are Dortmund, Juventus and Milan.

Indeed, the report claims that Dortmund are on pole position to sign the playmaker. Another report from the same outlet says he is rated at £34m.

What are Arsenal fans saying as Gunners reportedly eye Asensio?

Arsenal do have numerous options in attacking midfield, and out wide. Martin Odegaard was signed permanently from Madrid in the summer.

He is first choice, while Emile Smith-Rowe is probably Arsenal’s most in-form player. Bukayo Saka is a fan favourite and an England international.

However, when Arsenal have the chance to sign £115k-a-week (Sun) Asensio, they should surely take up that option. That is what fans think.
