Guillem Balague has claimed on his official YouTube channel that Mikel Arteta will look to offer Santi Cazorla the chance to return to Arsenal but only as a coach, and not a player – and Gunners fans have reacted on Twitter.
Cazorla, 35, became a favourite at Arsenal during his six-year stint under Arsene Wenger – before leaving in the same summer as the French boss. He clocked up 180 appearances in all competitions, scoring 29 goals and creating 45.
The former Spain international has since joined Villarreal for the past two seasons, clocking up 12 goals and nine assists in 35 league and cup appearances this season – proving age is just a number.
The pocket-sized dynamo is now out of contract at Villarreal, and Balague responded when asked by a fan if Cazorla returns to the Emirates. Balague stated that he would not return as a player, but could be asked back as a coach.
“I do know that Arteta will ask Cazorla to be a member of the coaching staff at some point in the future. They understand football the same way, they love working with eachother,” Balague said.
Cazorla has shown in La Liga this season that he is still more than capable of scoring and creating goals at the top level. He even scored against Barcelona this season, and would certainly improve Arsenal.
Arsenal supporters reacted to the news that Balague had suggested Cazorla would return to north London in the coming months, and many fans are delighted to hear Cazorla could be on his way back.
