Graeme Souness believes it is pivotal that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang remains at Arsenal beyond the summer window amid doubts over his future – and Gunners fans have reacted on Twitter to Souness’ comments.
Aubameyang scored a brace to take his tally to 17 goals in 25 Premier League outings this season, as The Gunners dismantled Everton’s rearguard to win 3-2 at The Emirates on Sunday. His future, though, remains up for discussion.
Indeed, the Arsenal captain has a contract at The Emirates until the summer of 2021 – meaning the summer could be the final window in which Arsenal would be able to rake in a premium price for their star man, if indeed they need to sell.
Souness, though, stated it is “imperative” for Arsenal to keep the Gabonese forward as he continues to shine for Arsenal, though The Telegraph claimed in January that Barcelona are interested in luring him to the Nou Camp.

“He’s a top player, can they hold on to him? It is imperative that they hold on to him,” Souness told Sky Sports. “A lot of strikers, alarm bells are ringing at that time when they are set free. But when he gets free, you believe he will score.”
The former Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan star, who is currently earning a whopping £200,000 a week (Spotrac), is set to turn 31 in the summer and it depends whether Arsenal want to keep him well into his thirties – or cash in.
Arsenal fans have reacted on Twitter to Souness’ comments, and the majority of supporters are desperate for their club to hand Aubameyang a new deal in order for the Gunners to keep him at the club.
