Arsenal fans react as Gabriel wins Player of the Month accolade

Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes has been named as the club’s official Player of the Month for September after a poll by supporters.

The 22-year-old helped his new club to three wins and one defeat from their first four games – not playing in the loss which came at Premier League champions, Liverpool.

Gabriel arrived in the summer from Lille costing the Gunners £27 million and he already looks like a smart piece of business.

It was clear from the outset of the summer that defensive reinforcements would be required and already it looks as though Arteta has struck gold.

The 22-year-old has shown superb strength and an ability to play out from the back so far during his time at Arsenal.

He won the Player of the Month vote at an absolute canter with 72%, from Alexandre Lacazette in second and Hector Bellerin in third.

Gabriel had arrived as someone relatively inexperienced but he looks very much like a player who can become Arsenal’s top defender for years to come.
