Fabrizio Romano reported earlier this week that Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah is attracting interest from four clubs. Bayer Leverkusen are said to be “pushing” for a deal, with West Ham, Crystal Palace and Watford also keen. An Arsenal deal is also on the table for Nketiah – fans have reacted.
Nketiah, 22, has struggled over the past 12 months for regular game time – preventing him from getting into a rhythm. Mikel Arteta chose to place preference in Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, while Gabriel Martinelli is also an option. Folarin Balogun has signed a new deal.
With Nketiah out of contract in June 2022, many thought he would be the one to be sacrificed if Arsenal were to sell a striker. However, that might not be the case. Romano says Arsenal have offered him a new deal – but that he is yet to sign it. He also states the identity of the four clubs that want him.
What are Arsenal fans saying about the interest in Nketiah – as per Romano?
Nketiah is in a dilemma. Clearly, he will not want to leave the club he has worked so hard to break into – but probably, for the good of his career, he needs to depart. His game time and path into the starting XI is blocked. A move elsewhere will help him progress, into a future England striker.
Palace certainly need a striker with Christian Benteke inconsistent. West Ham need cover for Michail Antonio, and Watford will want a striker who can score goals at Premier League level. Leverkusen also give younger players plenty of game time. Arsenal fans have discussed his next move.
