Arsenal have sold a left-back as a move for Kieran Tierney looks increasingly likely. Dominic Thompson has left Arsenal to join Brentford on a permanent deal, thought to be in the region of £3m (Telegraph deadline day blog at 10:35).
Thompson played 39 times for the Arsenal academy sides but did not play a competitive game for the first-team. The 19-year-old featured in pre-season but has been allowed to leave.

He joins Brentford, who are currently playing in the Championship. The Bees will be hoping for a promotion push this season under Thomas Frank and Thompson will be eager to play first-team football.
As Arsenal sold a left-back, another player in the same position is edging closer. According to BBC Sport, Arsenal have agreed a £25m deal to sign Tierney from Celtic. The Scotland international’s move to North London is expected to be completed today.
Here are several tweets from Arsenal fans discussing Thompson’s exit and what it could mean for Tierney.
