Celtic are reportedly interested in signing Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson this summer as they finally look to end their right-back woes – and Arsenal fans are desperate to see the Englishman leave.
According to The Scottish Mail on Sunday (back page, 16/06), Celtic have identified 27-year-old Jenkinson as an option to replace Mikael Lustig on the right side of their defence.
Lustig has come to the end of his contract at Celtic, with the Sweden international opting to go down a different path after seven years at Parkhead. Jeremy Toljan has returned to Borussia Dortmund after his loan spell.
Celtic have also been linked with Atalanta right-back Timothy Castagne and Sheffield United star George Baldock, and now Jenkinson is the latest player to arrive on their shortlist.
The England international managed just seven appearances for Arsenal last season, and is believed to have just 12 months remaining on his current deal – worth £45,000 according to Spotrac.
Jenkinson has managed just 70 appearances for Arsenal since joining the club for £1million in the summer of 2011 from Championship side Charlton Athletic, but has enjoyed decent spells at West Ham United on loan.
Arsenal fans have reacted on Twitter to the news that Celtic are interested in the right-sided defender, and many Gunners fans are keen to see the back of Jenkinson this summer.

Finally, we come to Carl Jenkinson. The true Arsenal man that doesn't have the ability to play for the club. With opsina leaving for €4m, I wouldn't be surprised if we let jenks go for a couple 100k's. Unfortunately, getting him out of our wage bill is better than sale price.
