Arsenal fans react as Dani Ceballos shows Gunners loyalty when asked Reak Madrid question

Dani Ceballos has told a Spain press conference on Friday, as per Marca, that he sat down with Real Madrid in the summer to discuss his future, but made it clear he wanted to rejoin Arsenal – which has delighted Gunners supporters.

Ceballos, 24, struggled at Arsenal during the first half of the campaign with the Gunners after moving to north London from Real Madrid on a season-long loan. But he improved under Arteta, clocking up 37 appearances in all competitions.

It left Arsenal trying to re-sign the 10-time Spain international in the recent window, and they eventually landed their man on a second season-long loan. There is no permanent clause in his second Arsenal loan, but Real are expected to be flexible.

Speaking about Real Madrid in Friday’s press conference, Ceballos stated it was an easy decision to return to Arsenal as playing under Arteta made him happy. He made it clear to Real in talks that he wanted to stay in London for the 2020-21 season.

“I spoke with Madrid to say that Arteta wanted me to come back,” Ceballos said. “They asked me to wait, but I was clear that I wanted to return to my club, where I had found myself very well.

“You sit down to appreciate that the Euros and Olympic Games are coming and you know that you have to play an important role in my team. With Mikel, I found happiness as a player and as a person. And that is key for a player.”

Ceballos will return to Arsenal after the international break to find the midfield competition has somewhat changed. Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira have left to join Hertha Berlin and Atletico Madrid on loan, while Thomas Partey has signed.

Arsenal supporters, though, appreciated the player’s comments in his press conference and applauded the Spaniard for his loyalty to Arsenal. Some even suggested that he should be made a permanent signing.
