Arsenal fans have been reacting to reports (AS) midfielder Dani Ceballos has made contact with his parent club Real Madrid about potentially ending his loan spell with the Gunners.
Ceballos hasn’t stepped out onto a pitch since November, when he sustained a hamstring injury against Vitoria in the Europa League.
The player has been in training since Christmas though, and has been on the bench for the last couple of matches against Chelsea and Sheffield United.
For reason or another, Mikel Arteta has declined to use the 23-year-old, and apparently the player is disappointed with his lack of involvement.
With the European Championships this summer, Ceballos – who earns £52,000-a-week (Spotrac) – has concerns that a lack of regular game time could see him miss out for his country.
It is thought Ceballos has voiced his concerns to Real, and apparently he is keen to work in fresh environment.
In the beginning, Ceballos wowed Arsenal supporters. His full debut against Burnley at the Emirates Stadium was certainly a high point.
But his form quickly dipped, and then the injury in November happened.
Arsenal fans react
Arsenal supporters appear to be divided on social media after learning Ceballos might be angling for an exit from the club this month:
Ceballos is really good, I don’t understand why he is not playing

Great . Not good enough

Let’s be honest he’s not that good

Another Dennis Suarez

Ceballos have been really poor the games he played apart from his debut. Offers nothing. Doesn’t assist or score and is not good of the ball either. A younger version of the current Mesut Ozil.

TBH he hasn’t been given enough chance. We’ve seen flashes of his quality.

If true, then it’s a real shame. Back from injury, but yet to be selected for minutes. Instead of constantly picking Ozil, Arteta can play 4-3-3 with Ceballos, Torreira & Xhaka in midfield, but doesn’t. This guy has more quality just waiting to be unleashed

I still think he has a lot to offer.

Do not let him go. He’s perfect to take up the creativity baton from Ozil, either when he leaves or retires. Guendouzi should not be ahead of him – Guendouzi has not been good enough this year. Matteo could benefit from a loan spell at this point. He’s also keeping Willock out 🤬
